That’s right, instead of waiting several years and adapting a feature film based on the hit Fox television series “24” 20th Century Fox is making the leap as deals have been closed with series creators Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow.
Surnow and Cochran will write the script, with showrunner Howard Gordon working on the story. All three will share producer duties.
Production on the script is expected to get underway late this summer, just as production on the sixth season gets under way.
It seems the story for the film will be far more Jack Bauer focused considering the idea behind a real-time 24-hour story won’t exactly work. Kiefer Sutherland has openly expressed interest in doing the film so much that it never really seemed as much of a “will they?” as much as it was “when will they?”
Abandoning the counting clock opens up several possibilities for storylines and apparently ideas of international travel are floating around, with London being eyed as a top spot to start.
Considering the timing it seems the film may take place chronologically after the sixth season of the show. A feature plot has been drafted, but details are being kept quiet.
