Warner Bros. Starts Up ‘Sharky’s Machine’

Phil Joanou is putting the final touches on The Rock starrer Gridiron Gang for Columbia Pictures and now Warner Bros. has tapped the helmer for their cop actioner remake Sharky’s Machine.

The film is a potential starring vehicle for Mark Wahlberg and will vary in places from the original Burt Reynolds helmed flick. The updated version will vary in places from the original and likely won’t be set in Atlanta. Story revolves around a tough homicide cop who is demoted to the lowest of the low, the morals squad. He rallies together a ragtag group of cops who successfully take down a man who rigs elections.

On top of Gridiron Gang Joanou also helmed Heaven’s Prisoners and Final Analysis. Gridiron is set to hit theaters on September 15.
