Okay, so here it is. I waited for a while to make sure I had a good list of DVDs to bring you and I’ll tell you what, Sony dominates this edition as they announced several DVDs this week.

THE LATEST DVDS
The Missing (Extended Cut)

June 6th

I just got this one added in at the last minute and I was like, “Okay, that’s a wrap.” So here we are, an unnecessary Extended Cut of Ron Howard’s The Missing. Why do I say unnecessary? Because it is. The first edition included 11 deleted scenes and three alternate endings and I am going to quote myself in regard to those deleted scenes here:

Also on the disc you get 11 deleted scenes and three alternate endings, and I feel very confident in saying that watching these is a complete waste of time. The deleted scenes should have been deleted and the alternate endings are so similar to the actual ending that the areas they differ are of little, to no matter.

So it is up to you if you are going to check this one out. Nevertheless, here is some additional info.

New Police Story

May 16th

You know what I know about this one? Nothing. It stars Jackie Chan and instead of going to theaters domestically it is heading straight-to-DVD. ‘Nuff said.

Annapolis

Wow, oh wow. This one was bad, and here it comes to DVD only five months after its theatrical release. I guess that is a bit odd considering the trend to release DVDs only three months after their theatrical bow. Anyway, here are the additional details.

Firewall

Firewall. I wanna see it. I heard it was bad. It hits DVD on June 6th, which is only four months after its theatrical release. Does this mean it is worse that Annapolis? I sure as hell hope not, but anything is possible.

Underworld: Evolution (Blu-ray Disc)

June 6th

Woo-hoo! Another official release date for a Blu-ray Disc, even though we knew it was coming. I am going to keep the comments limited here since I have another edition to talk about directly below.
Underworld: Evolution

June 6th

You can buy it now, and you should! If you were a fan of the first, the sequel is a must own. Granted the film is a bit slow, but let me tell you something, Kate Beckinsale wearing skin tight leather and a kick-ass final act make this a must-own. Yeah, it is corny. Yeah, it is slow. But it kicks much ass once it gets to the getting it on! Check out the additionals below.

When a Stranger Calls

May 16th

Meh, I haven’t heard anything good about this one, and I just can’t seem to grasp how a phone call gets tracked to being inside the house. Even if it is on a cell phone, how the hell does that happen?!?!?! Camille Belle is a hottie and I am sure she helps the watchability factor, but I still have my doubts.

• Deleted Scenes

• Behind-the-scenes featurette

• Director and cast commentary

Black Hawk Down (Extended Cut)

June 6th

Okay, here is one I am interested in. Not because it is an Extended Cut, but that does help, but because it is a good flick and Sony proposing that this edition is completely digitally remastered for the best possible picture and sound gets my insides all warm. I love it when these wartime films come with the ultimate sound goodness. Count me in.

Syriana

June 20th

This one I am anxious to check out. I saw Syriana in theaters and I immediately knew I wanted to watch it again on DVD. The film is complex. The film is good. The film is worth a second glance. Now, on that note, I am not sure it is worth a buy, but I will have a DVD review for you for sure so stay tuned. Until then, check out the included goodies below.
