This only sounds cool because getting a second chance to watch Tony Jaa perform seems necessary. Then again, that would be entirely possible if the Weinsteins would get off their duff and release Tom yum goong, another one of Jaa’s flicks, which they acquired the U.S., Scandinavia, South Africa and Australia/New Zealand rights to a while back.
Now, as for this Ong bak 2 business I am not quite sure where they are going to go with it, does someone actually have the balls to steal the head of the beloved village statue again?!?! Actually, not a lot is revealed as the Variety article reporting the news only says that Jaa plays a young man on a journey that teaches him the skills and inner meaning of martial arts.
The new film has not yet begun filming, but original director Panna Rittikrai is in negotiations to helm again with Jaa taking an action director credit on the sequel.
