Did you go see March of the Penguins? Did you like it? Did you think it deserved its Best Documentary Oscar? No matter what you think a parody is on the way as ThinkFilm has set a late-summer release for Farce of the Penguins, a parody of the documentary March of the Penguins with Samuel L. Jackson narrating the picture much in the way that Morgan Freeman narrated March.
Bob Saget is producing the pic based on a script he wrote and will direct. The picture transforms the documentary’s depiction of penguin survival and mating rituals into the story of one bird’s search for love while on a 70-mile trek with hedonistic buddies obsessed with getting laid. Yup, we are getting the real Bob Saget, not the “Full House” Saget.
Saget will also voice the lovestruck penguin protagonist with Lewis Black, Mo’Nique and Tracy Morgan voicing the other leads. Rounding out the rest of the voice cast is Jason Alexander, James Belushi, Jason Biggs, Dane Cook, Harvey Fierstein, Whoopi Goldberg, Gilbert Gottfried, Norm MacDonald, Alyson Hannigan, Jamie Kennedy, Jon Lovitz, Carlos Mencia and Saget’s “Full House” buddies John Stamos and Dave Coulier.
Variety goes on to mention that Jackson possesses the commanding oration of March narrator Morgan Freeman, but his play-by-play is in keeping with the pic’s R-rated territory.
Got to say, Saget at his raunchiest is actually quite funny. This one may be very good.
