I am not sure what it is about Antoine Fuqua, but his name has been mentioned with several films since King Arthur flopped in theaters yet none of them have gone into production, but it seems that may be changing come summer 2006 as that is the anticipated start date for his film Shooter for Paramount Pictures.
Mark Wahlberg will star in the drama, which is based on “Point of Impact,” a novel by Stephen Hunter. Wahlberg will play a master sniper lured out of a reclusive existence to prevent an assassination. He’s double-crossed and hunted for a murder.
Fuqua and Wahlberg were also in line to film By Any Means Necessary for Paramount, which was announced way back in August 2005, but production on that film has dragged due to the lack of availability with co-star Al Pacino.
Even though the Variety article says Shooter is expected to shoot in the summer of ’06 it also says it isn’t sure where Wahlberg will go next mentioning such other projects as We Own the Night and The Brazilian Job.
