Ratner is New ‘X-Men 3’ Director

Variety announced today that Brett Ratner is indeed Matthew Vaughn’s replacement as the director for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men 3 film after Vaughn had to leave the production due to personal issues.

The announcement came out of 20th and Marvel Entertainment Friday night and the hiring keeps the film on track for an August start date and a Memorial Day weekend 2006 opening date.

Ratner recently spent an entire year developing Superman Returns, the film that ultimately fell into one-time X-Men director Bryan Singer, so I guess it is only appropriate that Ratner fill in where Singer dropped off.
