Sylvester Stallone is moving from the rough and brutish nature of his normal fare and taking a more literary approach as his next film aims to be a directorial outing for the writer/actor as he sets out to direct his own screenplay based on the life of Edgar Allan Poe.
Poe will tell the life of the legendary 19th century American poet and short story writer, a life that has long interested Stallone as he completed the passion project in 2002 and has since been nurturing the story, which has finally come together.
Stallone has his eyes set on Robert Downey Jr. for the lead role.
Sly hasn’t been behind the camera since Rocky IV, but his writing skills have never been questioned as he penned all the Rocky and Rambo features.
