Crispin Glover is Weird!

If you ever had the inkling that there just wasn’t something quite right about Crispin Glover you just might be right as we have a special look at his directing and writing debut film, What is It?

What is it indeed!

By clicking through to the next page to check out this film you are going to be witness to a film that the Sundance Film Festival claims they are proud to present as they describe it as a film that defies easy summarization but is a triumph of cinematic irreverence and uncompromising creativity.

How does Glover himself sum up the film in which most of the actors have Down’s Syndrome, but the film is not about Down’s Syndrome? Well, “Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe, and how to get home, as tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche.”

Either way, this is an interesting peek at a truly independent film, which you will soon find out from the Rated R trailer.

The film is screening for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival this month and in all likelihood it will not be getting wide distribution, so cherish what peeks you get at this interesting film. We have a peek at the trailer as well as a gallery of 11 stills including the one sheet.

Scenes with naked women in elephant masks, Shirley Temple, Glover being lowered deus-ex-machina style into a Maxfield Parrish scene…It’s like Fellini on psychedelics — wildly creative but completely twisted. – Jane Ganahl, San Francisco Examiner

Possibly the most bizarre, uncompromising movie ever made by a major Hollywood name. – Gilbert Garcia, Phoenix New Times

Crispin Glover… America’s Best Psychotic energy. – Richard Lacayo, Time Magazine

What Is It? is an outre, bewildering, unnerving, surreal, blackly comic film. It is brilliant in its sensitivity and humanity and infantile in its excess. – Darius James, Spin
