Screenwriter, Roger Avary, who also wrote Rules of Attraction, has just posted an update on his official website regarding the status of the big screen adaptation of Konami’s Silent Hill. The psychological horror is expected to release sometime in 2006 and will follow along the storyline of the videogame in which a mother and daughter seek to uncover the secrets of the seemingly abandoned town of Silent Hill.
I have posted the update he gave below, and by the sounds of it we can expect more soon:
I’m sitting in the Air Canada Mapel Leaf Lounge, which is oddly identical to the Air France lounge, waiting for my flight to Toronto. Silent Hill is beginning preproduction, and I’m needed for some light script polishing on location. I must say, this film is crewing up quite nicely. There’s Andrew Mason producing, Production Designer Carol Spier recreating the look of the game, Wendy Partridge weaving costumes, and Patrick Tatopolous creating all of the denizens of Silent Hill. It seems as though Samuel Hadida is giving Christophe all of the tools he needs to make a proper adaptation. More updates daily (and hopefully pictures)…
