If you weren’t yet aware, awards season has started and with it is coming a clear indication as to who the frontrunner is for a large award season. Earlier today the Golden Globe nominees were announced, which you can check out right here, and with them came seven nominations for Sideways, which seems to be a continuing trend considering both the Los Angeles and New York Film Critics voted Sideways the Best Film of the year and Thomas Haden Church as the Best Supporting Actor.
Oddly enough AFI also weighed in over the weekend with their top picks and they did not agree with the NY and LA crix as they chose The Aviator as the best film, which certainly would fall more in line with traditional Academy voting if you were to use these picks as any form of a barometer for picking the Oscar winners in our Oscar Oracle competition.
There was also some dissention between the Gotham and La La crix in other major categories, so check them all out along with AFI’s Top Ten films of the year below:
