DreamWorks 2005 Upcoming Slate Pics and Previews

DreamWorks just published their 2005 slate and while several of the films they are giving us information on we already knew about it is nice to get some official storylines as well as some new pics… especially the two new ones we got from The Ring 2!

As far as the movie previews go there are eight in total ranging from romantic comedy to thrillers. First up is the already mentioned Ring 2, which stars Naomi Watts back as Rachel Keller ready to battle the evil videotape. The story picks up six months after the horrifying events that terrorized Rachel Keller and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) in Seattle. To escape her haunting memories, Rachel takes Aidan and moves to the small coastal community of Astoria, Oregon, to start fresh. However, Rachel’s resolve quickly turns to dread when evidence at a local crime scene—including an unmarked videotape—seems eerily familiar. Rachel realizes that the vengeful Samara is back and more determined than ever to continue her relentless cycle of terror and death.

We have two new pics from the film, so click on the teaser image below to check ’em out!

Next up is the animated comedy Madagascar starring the voice talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G), Andy Richter and Gwen Stefani. Madagascar follows a bunch of kooky zoo animals who have decided it is time to head back to the homeland. Led by Alex the Lion (Stiller) these native New Yorkers from the Central Park Zoo have to figure out how to survive in the wild and discover the true meaning of the phrase “It’s a jungle out there.

Next comes the latest from director Michael Bay, The Island. The sci-fi thriller starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson who are quite the risks in this tale of human cloning gown awry. To get the full story click here.

In August will come Dreamer starring Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning and Kris Kristofferson who star in a drama about a father who, for the love of his daughter, sacrifices almost everything to save the life of an injured racehorse and bring the promising filly back to her former glory.

Unfortunately we didn’t get any pics for this next one, they should be great as DreamWorks is bringing the cheese-loving Wallace and his ever faithful dog Gromit—the much-loved duo from Aardman’s Oscar-winning clay-animated “Wallace & Gromit” shorts—to the big screen in an all new comedy adventure, marking their first full-length feature film. For more on this one click here.

Then comes one I hadn’t yet heard much about, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern. This one is based on a true story of a woman who defies the odds to keep a roof over her family’s heads. For the full synopsis get the rest here.

Now, of course, we have our romantic comedy as Mark Ruffalo and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up with Mean Girls director Mark Waters to bring you Just Like Heaven. To get the full storyline on this one click here.

Finally comes one last scare that is yet to get an official release date, but if it hits theaters in ’05 look for it to be around Halloween as scare master Wes Craven is once again joining the fray with Red-Eye. The film stars Cillian Murphy and the star of The Notebook, Rachel McAdams and follows one hell of a plane ride that you wouldn’t want to be caught dead on, unfortunately that is exactly what might happen to these characters, click here for the full story.
