Delpy to Solve the ‘Da Vinci Code’?

According to the Boston Herald French actress Julie Delpy who most recently starred in the amazing sequel Before Sunset is on the short list to play the female lead opposite Tom Hanks in Ron Howard‘s film adaptation of Dan Brown’s mega best-seller The Da Vinci Code.

“I’m praying,” Delpy told the Track. “But we’ll see. You never know until there is a solid cast, but I am going to meet them.”

The BH article goes on to say that Delpy will get a sit-down with Howard and producer Brian Grazer, who are casting the flick and say they are committed to hiring foreign actors to play the book’s foreign characters. Delpy is up for the role of Parisian cryptologist Sophie Neveu who helps Hanks’ character – Harvard prof Robert Langdon – find the Holy Grail.

“I don’t know what their idea for it is,” she said, “or if I am right for it. The character is French, in her 30s and has a shade of red in her hair. I can become a redhead!”

Delpy will next be seen in The Legend of Lucy Keyes for Moody Street Pictures, the film is a spooky thriller that also stars Justin Thereoux about a city couple (Thereoux and Delpy) whose youngest daughter disappears shortly after they move their family to rural Massachusetts, where a 250-year-old legend about a little girl gone missing begins to repeat itself in the present.
