In 1980 John Carpenter made a horror film called The Fog for around $1 million using two fog machines, but now that Revolution Studios has acquired the rights to remake the film, expect a bit bigger budget and a lot more fog.
Variety reports that Cooper Layne is set to write the script based on the first film about a thick fog that enshrouds the coastline of Northern California. Fog is reminiscent of one 100 years before that wrecked a ship and drowned the seamen aboard. Sure enough, those salty dogs are back, mighty angry and out to kill whomever they find.
The remake is currently set for a February production start, which means we may see it next Halloween.
Speaking of Halloween, the Variety article goes on to say that Carpenter is also entertaining offers to remake Halloween.
