Watts Talks KING KONG

Naomi Watts, who will play actress Ann Darrow, the object of King Kong’s affections in Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong talked to SCI-FI Wire about her concern about acting against nothing assuming there would be no great ape in front of her, but she was soon reassured.

“[I] won’t be [acting against] nothing,” Watts said in an interview. “That’s one of the things he told me in our initial meeting, because I would be very worried about that. Andy Serkis is going to be not only a character in the film, but he’s going to be a pair of eyes for me to look at [on set]. There’s a huge amount of emotion looking [at him].” Serkis will voice the giant ape and perform him on stage as a reference for the computer animation, in the same way that he performed Gollum in Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies.
