From ‘Shadowmancer’ Comes ‘Wormwood’ and Greenbacks

If you haven’t heard of author G.P. Taylor you had better get ready as he just may be J.K. Rowling incarnate as his debut children’s novel “Shadowmancer” has already been optioned as a feature film, and now his yet to hit the shelves novel “Wormwood” just found a friend in Fortitude Films whom has paid $1.8 million against $6.5 million for the film rights.

Fortitude previously paid $1 million against $6.2 million for “Shadowmancer,” which became a U.K. publishing phenomenon and has spent three of the past four weeks atop the New York Times bestseller list for children’s chapter books.

“Wormwood” is Taylor’s second book in his thematic trilogy in which the book’s title refers to a mythical comet that, according to an ancient text, will smash into the Earth. A young housemaid in 18th-century London swipes the volume and must decipher the text and stop the comet.
