Not only is Fox making a feature film adaptation of the popular 80s television show “The A-Team,” they have also tapped Bond scribe Bruce Feirstein to pen the script.
Feirstein is the man behind the 007 films GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough and the whole goal behind the feature film is to give the franchise a more serious feel rather than the cartoony appeal the television show had, in the vein of such films as Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, retaining the comedic value but upping the dramatic appeal.
“A-Team” creator, Stephen J. Cannell, said to Variety, “Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died… We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We’re not going to do that (in the movie). In this the tone is more dangerous — you can really die. It’s very tense and exciting.”
Speaking of the old show, the article also goes on to say that fans of the television show will be happy to hear that Mr. T is expected to make an appearance, but not as B.A. Baracus.
