If there is ever a reason for me to put up an image of Keira Knightley I am going to jump on it as she is about to be awarded with the “Hollywood Breakthrough Award – Female Performer” at the Hollywood Film Festival along with Jamie Foxx who will be recognized with the “Hollywood Breakthrough Award – Male Performer.”
Both Foxx and Knightley have been on the rise as Knightley’s current claim to fame would be her role in last summer’s blockbuster The Pirates of the Caribbean as Miss Swan and Foxx recently wowed audiences in Collateral starring opposite Tom Cruise.
However, both those films are in the past and Foxx is sure to be making a run at Oscar glory as his name is one notch away from the A-List. His upcoming Ray Charles biopic aptly named Ray is sure to turn more than just a few heads.
Knightley, on the other hand, looks to be making a similar A-List run as her upcoming 2005 film The Jacket finds her in what could be considered as her first “serious” role in the dramatic and psychological thriller.
She stars opposite Adrien Brody in the film about a military veteran who returns to his native Vermont, suffering from bouts of amnesia. When he is wrongly arrested on a murder charge and lands in an asylum, a well-meaning doctor puts him on a heavy course of experimental drugs, restrains him in a jacket-like device, and locks him away in the body drawer of the basement morgue. The process sends him on a journey into the future, where he can foresee his death (but not who did it or how) in four day’s time. Now the only question that matters is: can he stop it?
But back to the awards, which will be be bestowed upon the honorees as part of the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday evening, October 18, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
