In two separate articles posted over at SCI-FI.com the skinniest girl in Hollywood, other than that Olsen sister, Brittany Murphy got to talking about two of her upcoming projects, comic-book movie Sin City and the animated fantasy musical Happy Feet.
First off is probably the one more of you will be interested in and that is the adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel Sin City being helmed by Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, which is going to be broken up into three separate sections and as Murphy describes them, “It’s not three separate films, but three vignettes, three stories… I open up ‘The Big Fat Kill.'”
The film boasts a HUGE ensemble cast including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Benicio del Toro, Clive Owen, Rosario Dawson, Michael Clarke Duncan and of course Murphy who will play Shelie, the only character to appear in all three vignettes, “There’s always got to be a local watering hole, and she’s the waitress at the local watering hole,” the actress said. “It’s written in a wonderful Howard Hawks sort of noir-esque manner, so that many decades sort of mix together. It’s shot in black and white, with some splashes of color. There’s a lot of green-screen work that we did. I was in a scene with Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke, and I’ve never met Bruce Willis in my life. I did it on a green scene! But I worked with Benicio Del Toro, who’s playing Jackie Boy, and Clive Owen’s playing Dwight. I worked with both of them.”
For more on that news click here, but before you do Murphy also talked Happy Feet, which she described as “a blast, and it’s still going on… I just did some recording sessions for it, about a week ago.”
In the film Murphy is joined by Elijah Wood as she voices Gloria, a penguin with a beautiful voice, and Wood voices Mumble, a penguin who can’t sing and is ostracized for it.
She goes on to say, “Savion Glover is tapping [dancing] in the film for Elijah’s character. I play Gloria, who’s the female love interest. And I sing. Basically, all the penguins have a heart song, and that’s part of their mating ritual. And the music runs the gamut from the Beatles to modern-day hip-hop, all songs that we already know.”
