It seems there is more to the latest rumors than just rumor as Variety is now reporting that the X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer will be directing Superman for Warner Bros. as he has signed a deal to develop and direct the long-gestating new pic in Warner’s star-crossed franchise.
Apparently Singer will be working with X2 scribes Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris to draft the script, which is expected to begin production late this year in Australia. Even though Charlie’s Angels director McG was long rumoured to be attached to the project, a project that was never officially even greenlit at WB, the studio commented telling Variety that the studio had always been committed to making Superman.
Most interesting to you Supe-heads is that Singer also is said to have a new take on the pic. Before his involvement, it was to revolve around Superman’s battle with Lex Luthor and a mysterious figure from Krypton who has come to hunt down the Man of Steel.
It may also be of interest to you that with Singer now on this project and making it a top-priority he may not be involved at all with the X-Men 3 film, which is yet to set any specific details on dates, casting or plot lines.
