Rise of the DVD

On November 11, Warner Home Video (WHV) brings the battle against the world of machines home on DVD and VHS with the release of one of Hollywood’s most innovative and celebrated franchises, the $150* million U.S. box-office smash The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Arnold Schwarzenegger “is back” in his signature role as the Terminator sent to save the human race from a cyborg revolution in this adrenaline-pumping adventure. From director Jonathan Mostow (U-571, Breakdown) and featuring a cast that includes Nick Stahl (In the Bedroom, The Thin Red Line), Kristanna Loken (Panic) and Claire Danes (The Hours, William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet), the action-packed DVD is loaded with thrills, eye-dazzling special effects and state-of-the-art special features including revealing new footage, gag reel, an interactive effects lab and commentary from the stars and director.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most successful entertainers in box office history, having grossed more than $3.4 billion at the box-office worldwide. Schwarzenegger action blockbusters include Conan the Barbarian, Commando, Predator, The Running Man, Total Recall, True Lies, Eraser, Batman and Robin, and Collateral Damage as well as the hit comedies Twins, Kindergarten Cop and Junior, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. In 1983 Schwarzenegger took on the role of a lifetime in the critically acclaimed The Terminator for director James Cameron. In 1991, he returned to play the killer cyborg from the future in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, one of the biggest grossing films of the decade.

Schwarzenegger’s career in acting, bodybuilding and philanthropy has garnered him numerous awards including a Golden Globe, ShoWest’s Humanitarian of the Year Award in 1997, the 1998 Moving Picture Ball’s American Cinematheque Award and the 2001 International World Sports Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.

To continue the momentum of the theatrical release, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines will be supported by a massive media campaign. The extensive advertising, merchandising and promotional campaign including television, print, radio and online media will generate more than 800 million impressions, set to reach 95% of consumers. The release will also be supported by extensive consumer promotions.
