Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon will star in and produce the upcoming supernatural thriller, Cold
Cold, a supernatural thriller in development at Lionsgate, has today found both a star and a producer in Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line, Wild). The Hollywood Reporter has the news, bringing word that the Academy Award winner will headline and produce alongside Bruna Papandrea, Witherspoon’s producing partner at Pacific Standard Films.
While the plot is being kept secret for the time being, the screenplay for Cold hails from Deja Vu scribe Bill Marsilii. Marsilii has also served as a writer on Cartoon Network’s “Courage the Cowardly Dog” and drafted Walt Disney Pictures’ still-unproduced 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo.
Earlier this year, Witherspoon starred in the action comedy Hot Pursuit opposite Sofia Vergara (Chef, “Modern Family”). She also recently signed on to produce and star in Tink, a live-action film from Walt Disney Pictures that follows Tinker Bell, the mischievous fairy from J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan.”
News of Witherspoon’s involvement with Cold comes on the heels of word earlier this year that Witherspoon and Papandrea will produce another Lionsgate thriller, Luckiest Girl Alive, based on Jessica Knoll’s recent best seller.
