Fans of last year’s small screen comedy miniseries “The Spoils of Babylon” have a new treat to look forward to this summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, stars Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have reteamed and secretly filmed an entire Lifetime original movie, titled A Deadly Adoption!
Produced by Gary Sanchez Productions, Mar Vista Entertainment and National Picture Show, A Deadly Adoption is scripted by “The Spoils of Bablyon’s” Andrew Steele and is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, whose previous telefilm work includes Love at the Christmas Table, Escape from Polygamy and Sunday School Musical. Designed to poke good natured fun at Lifetime’s oft-melodramatic narratives, A Deadly Adoption will follow Ferrell and Wiig as a married couple who look after a pregnant woman in the hopes of adopting her child.
A Deadly Adoption will actually air on Lifetime this summer as part of the network’s 25th anniversary festivities.
Ferrell is in theaters now in the just-released Get Hard (check out our interview with him and co-star Kevin Hart) and can be seen coming up in James Franco’s Zeroville before starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in the comedy Daddy’s Home. Wiig, meanwhile, will star opposite Zach Galifianakis in the action-comedy Masterminds and will appear in Ridley Scott’s all-star ensemble The Martian before strapping on a proton pack for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot.
Steele is also set to serve as executive producer on A Deadly Adoption alongside Sharon Bordas, Jessica Elbaum and Fernando Szew.
