Woody Allen’s Next Titled Irrational Man, Heads to Sony Pictures Classics

Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired all North American rights to Woody Allen’s upcoming film, now officially titled Irrational Man, from Gravier Productions. It marks the distributor’s eighth teaming with the legendary director.

Although plot details for Irrational Man have not yet been revealed, Sony Pictures Classics states as part of there official announcement that, “Woody Allen’s new movie ‘Irrational Man,’ his latest annual gift to moviegoers everywhere, is as fresh and winning as ever.”

What is known is that Irrational Man is set to star Jamie Blackley (If I Stay, Snow White and the Huntsman) Joaquin Phoenix (Inherent Vice, The Master), Parker Posey (A Mighty Wind, The House of Yes) and Emma Stone (The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man). Stone also headlined Allen’s last film, the romantic comedy Magic in the Moonlight, opposite Colin Firth.

“Sony Classics and I have a good working relationship,” says Allen. “I like the way they handle my movies, very special, very classy and I always hope my films live up to their expectations.”

Producers on Irrational Man include Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson. A release date has not yet been set, but it’s a safe bet that the film will arrive in theaters later this year.
