Jan Schwieterman, who starred in the 1997 Nickelodeon comedy Good Burger, has passed away at the age of 52.
Schwieterman’s passing was confirmed by his brother, Chad, in a Facebook post earlier this month, in which he revealed that Schwieterman recently found out that he had an “aggressive” form of cancer and that his death came as a “shock” to them.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman,” Schwieterman’s brother wrote in a Facebook post. “He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time. Rest in peace, brother. We love you and miss you.”
Schwieterman was born in 1972 in Bluffton, Indianapolis, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting shortly after high school. The actor appeared in small guest roles in high-profile shows like ER, Forever, and more, before landing one of his biggest roles in the 1997 comedy Good Burger, where he played the villainous Kurt Bozwell opposite Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
Following his role in Good Burger, Schwieterman appeared in other guest roles before going on a hiatus from the film industry in 2000. His final acting credit came in the 2008 independent film, Along the Way.
ComingSoon sends its condolences to the family and friends of Schwieterman.
