Two potential producers for the next installment of the James Bond franchise have been named.
It was announced last month that Amazon MGM Studios had been granted creative control of the James Bond franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Broccoli and Wilson will still remain as co-owners of the franchise.
Which producers is Amazon looking at for the James Bond franchise?
David Heyman and Amy Pascal are now “in talks to shepherd the next iteration” of Bond for Amazon, according to a recent report from Puck.
“The veteran producers have been among the names rumored in the British press in the weeks since Amazon shocked the town by acquiring full control of the Bond franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, but now I’m told reps for Heyman and Pascal are negotiating their deals,” Puck’s article reads. “Amazon declined to comment, and nothing can be official until the Broccoli transaction closes, which is still a ways off. But they’re the choice of Amazon execs Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke, and Courtenay Valenti, and barring some impasse, the announcement will happen.”
Heyman was a producer on all eight of Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter films, as well as the three Fantastic Beasts movies. He additionally has served as a producer on titles such as 2007’s I Am Legend, 2013’s Gravity, 2014’s Paddington, 2017’s Paddington 2, 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and more.
Pascal, meanwhile, has been heavily involved with Spider-Man, having produced all of the solo Tom Holland MCU movies, Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise, and the Venom films. She also notably worked on a handful of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies: 2006’s Casino Royale, 2008’s Quantum of Solace, and 2012’s Skyfall.
Puck’s article also mentioned that Amazon’s plan is to “make a new movie for theatrical release before any spinoffs or TV extensions, so their first task will be to settle on writers and/or a filmmaker before picking a new Bond.”
