Snow White Reviews Lead To Divisive Rotten Tomatoes Score for Live-Action Remake

Snow White reviews are beginning to pour in, and the newest Disney live-action adaptation is drawing divisive reactions early on.

What are the Snow White reviews saying?

On Rotten Tomatoes, Snow White is currently sitting at 48% with 81 critic reviews officially in. Despite the mixed reactions, star Rachel Zegler has earned massive praise for her role. AwardsWatch’s Daniel Bayer praises Zegler, noting that “whenever Zegler is onscreen, the film manages to conjure up some of that good old Disney magic.”

The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney also praised Zegler, saying that she sells her role as Snow White “with conviction and heart.” Discussing Film’s Tyler Taing also called her performance a “powerhouse,” but did note that the movie has “little else to enjoy from this clumsy, poorly conceived, and cynical live-action Disney remake.”

Snow White will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.

Alongside Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Snow White also stars Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Martin Klebba as Grumpy. Set to be directed and produced by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, the project is expected to expand the story and music from the original. La La Land and The Greatest Showman duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are also attached to write new songs for the adaptation.

“Disney’s Snow White is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy,” reads the synopsis.

This project is part of Disney’s growing list of upcoming live-action projects, including Moana, Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Bambi.
