Reminders of Him, the upcoming adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel, has cast one of Hollywood’s leading scream queens as the lead actress.
Who is leading the Reminders of Him cast?
Per Deadline, Maika Monroe has been cast in Reminders of Him. The actress is coming off a breakout year thanks to Longlegs, Osgood Perkins’ thriller that became a box-office sensation for Neon. Monroe’s notable roles include It Follows, Independence Day: Resurgence, Hot Summer Nights, Honey Boy, Watcher, and Significant Other. Her upcoming schedule includes the remake of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, 100 Nights of Hero, and In Cold Light.
Vanessa Caswill (Love at First Sight) will direct the movie from a screenplay by Hoover and Lauren Levine. The screenwriting duo will produce through their Heartbones Entertainment banner. Gina Matthews will produce, while Robin Fisichella will executive produce.
Based on the 2022 New York Times best-seller, Reminders of Him is a story about “motherhood, forgiveness, and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.” The movie centers around Kenna Rowan, a woman who hopes to reconnect with her young daughter after serving time in prison for a previous mistake. While most people in town try to shut her out, Kenna finds romance with bar owner Ledger War, who might be the only link to her daughter.
Hoover’s novels are becoming hot projects in Hollywood, mainly due to the success of It Ends with Us. Despite the controversy between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, It Ends with Us exceeded expectations with a $351 million worldwide gross on a $25 million budget.
Verity, another movie based on a Hoover novel, is filming with Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, and Dakota Johnson. Meanwhile, Josh Boone will adapt Hoover’s Regretting You for Paramount.
Universal has dated Reminders of Him for February 13, 2026.
