DC Fans Aren’t Confused About Colin Farrell Playing Sgt. Rock After The Penguin

DC fans are reacting positively to the recent news that Colin Farrell is in talks to play the eponymous comic book character in Luca Guadagnino’s Sgt. Rock. Notably, Farrell has played Oz Cobb / Penguin in the 2022 superhero feature The Batman and its 2024 streaming spin-off The Penguin. He is slated to reprise the role in The Batman Part II.

The news of Colin Farrell’s potential casting as Sgt. Rock in the DC Universe has been met with excitement from the fans. It was earlier reported that Sgt. Rock DCU movie was circling Farrell for the eponymous role. Since then, people have taken to social media to voice their interest.

Well-known industry scopper @MyTimeToShineH initially reacted to the news with a simple “Nice.” However, when other users on X (previously Twitter) expressed their surprise about it, the scooper posted, “Why are people so shocked by this?”

Meanwhile, @JohnnySobczak listed the circulating reports about the project in the caption of an ascending energy gif.

@heyitsjennalynn shared the following with a Margot Robbie smiling gif, “Me sitting in my local IMAX theater in late 2026 watching Colin Farrell’s Sgt. Rock share the screen with a live-action G.I. Robot.”

Popular content creator @blurayangel sarcastically noted, “Bro Colin Farrell doesn’t look anything like Sgt Rock” with an image of Farrell in the Penguin makeup placed beside an image of Sgt. Rock from the comics.

@Fortress_of_DC claimed that Farrell “is crazy. He can do everything.”
