Cineverse has shared The Toxic Avenger poster and photos for the long-delayed superhero movie, which serves as a reimagining of Troma Entertainment’s 1984 cult classic film of the same name. The remake will finally arrive in theaters in August 2025.
“When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive,” reads the official synopsis.

The new poster and photos have finally unveiled a first look at Game of Thrones alum Peter Dinklage‘s complete transformation as the titular hero. Prior to its long-awaited theatrical release, the film originally had its world premiere at the 2023 Fantastic Fest. At the moment, it currently hold a Tomatometer rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film is written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Macon Blair (Green Room.) It is a contemporary take onthat subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Kick-Ass. Joining Dinklage are Jacob Tremblay (Room, Good Boys), Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First Class), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings films), Julia Davis (Camping), Jonny Coyne (Beirut), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), David Yow (Under the Silver Lake), Jane Levy (Evil Dead) and more. It is produced by original directing duo Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, along with Mary Parent and Alex Garcia. Executive producers are Blair, Jay Ashenfelter, and Andrew Pfeffer.
