The Boys’ Homelander Actor Thinks He’s ‘Too Old’ To Join Marvel

Antony Starr, known for playing Homelander in The Boys, recently shared whether he would consider joining Marvel as Green Goblin. The actor is currently working on the final season of Prime Video’s superhero series, which is expected to be released sometime in 2026. Previously, the most famous portrayal of the Spider-Man villain Green Goblin was done by Nosferatu actor Willem Dafoe. After playing Norman Osborne in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, he reprised the role in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Antony Starr talks possibility of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Banshee star recently attended the Toronto Comic-Con, where he was approached by a fan, who posted the actor’s take on joining Marvel online.

The blogger named Austin Medeiros took to X (formerly Twitter), where he stated that he asked Antony Starr if he would join Marvel. According to his post, Starr responded by saying, “Nah I’m a little too old for that.”

Here’s the post Medeiros shared:

In another post on X, Medeiros conveyed that he inquired the actor about whether he would like to portray Green Goblin in the MCU. To this, he replied, “I COULD DO THAT! But Willem Dafoe did a great job so maybe not.”

This isn’t the first time Antony Starr has been asked his opinion on joining another superhero universe. In May 2024, fans’ speculations suggested that he would become Booster Gold in the new DCU. This came after Starr followed the DC co-CEO James Gunn on Instagram. However, the actor denied these rumors and expressed his excitement to witness what Gunn has in store.

As covered by SuperHeroHype before, Antony Starr stated, “Me and James just play golf. I cannot wait to see what he does with the DC Universe. I think he’s a phenomenal director, producer, talent. He’s one of the biggest brands in the industry, so I’m excited to see what he cooks up.”
