Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are being eyed to star in a remake of Single White Female.
Released in 1992, Single White Female is a psychological erotic thriller directed by Barbet Schroeder. Based on John Lutz’s 1990 novel SWF Seeks Sake, the film stars Bridge Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
What do we know about the Single White Female remake?
Jeff Sneider’s The Insneider reported that Ortega and Russell are both in talks to star in a remake of the movie that is in the works at Sony Pictures and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures.
A director is not yet attached to the project, and it’s unclear who is working on the script. Sneider says the movie could go into production at some point next year, given that Ortega will soon be filming scenes for J.J. Abrams’ next movie and Russell is attached to star in the reboot of The Thomas Crown Affair, though this has not been confirmed at this time.
Sony Pictures was previously working on a television series remake of Single White Female that never took off.
Ortega is known for playing the titular Addams Family character in Netflix’s Wednesday series and Tara Carpenter in the Scream franchise. His filmography also includes 2021’s The Fallout, 2022’s X, 2024’s Miller’s Girl, and 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, while she’ll soon be seen in the new A24 movie Death of a Unicorn and Trey Edward Shults’ Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Russell, meanwhile, played Judy Robinson in Netflix’s Lost in Space and has starred in movies such as 2019’s Escape Room, 2019’s Waves, 2020’s Words on Bathroom Walls, 2021’s Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, and 2022’s Bones and All, among other titles.

With Hedra turning more menacing by the minute, Allison finally understands what she’s up against.”
