Y2K Max Release Date Set for Rachel Zegler A24 Movie’s Streaming Debut

A24 has announced the Max release date for its latest disaster comedy, Y2K, starring Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler as Laura. Since making its theatrical debut last December, the film has garnered mixed reviews from critics. It currently has a 42% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 97 reviews.

“It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Two high school nobodies decide to crash the last big party before the new millennium. When the clock strikes midnight, the night gets more insane than they ever could have imagined,” reads the synopsis.

When is the Y2K Max release date?

Y2K will be available for streaming starting on Friday, April 4 on Max. This will then be followed by its broadcast debut on HBO on Saturday, April 5. The cast also includes Jaeden Martell (It movies), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Lachlan Watson (Chucky), Mason Gooding (Scream VI), Tim Heidecker (Us), Eduardo Franco (Booksmart, Stranger Things), Miles Robbins (Blockers), Daniel Zolghadri (Funny Pages), rapper The Kid Laroi, and more.

The film was written and directed by Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter. It hails from Jonah Hill, who signed on to produce the project through his Strong Baby banner. Y2K marks Hill’s latest collaboration with A24 after previously working together in his feature directorial debut Mid90s. It was also produced by Winter, Matt Dines, Ali Goodwin, and Chris Storer (The Bear).

Zegler is currently preparing for the highly-anticipated theatrical release of the live-action Snow White movie, which will see the West Side Story star playing the titular Disney princess. She was last seen starring in her first Broadway musical Romeo + Juliet, which hailed from director Sam Gold and composer Jack Antonoff. The play ran from September 26, 2024, to February 16, 2025.
