Fans can finally rejoice as Jenefer Brown, the EVP and Head of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, has confirmed that John Wick 5 is, in fact, happening. The Keanu Reeves-led film series has so far spawned four installments and a limited series, in addition to an upcoming spin-off movie featuring Ana de Armas. As per Brown, while a fifth addition is definitely on the way, it is possible that Reeves might not reprise his iconic role due to the events that transpired towards the conclusion of Chapter 4. However, she has not revealed anything about the John Wick 5 release date.
John Wick 5 is in development, Lionsgate producer teases Wick’s fate
In a recent discussion, the long-term Lionsgate executive stated that the studio is actively working towards expanding the John Wick universe, which includes plans for John Wick 5, as well as other connected entries.
While speaking with ComicBook.com at a preview event for the John Wick Experience in Las Vegas, Jenefer Brown noted, “This world continues to grow and expand in incredible ways. Up next, of course, we have Ballerina, which is our first spin-off movie, and [we] can’t wait for that to release to the world. Of course, we’ve announced we’re working on a fifth John Wick film. I think there are more spinoffs to come, a TV series, video game.”
Nevertheless, Brown failed to confirm whether Keanu Reeves will be returning for John Wick 5. “We’ve shared that we’re developing a fifth John Wick film. [John Wick] may be [dead]. We are all on bated breath waiting to find out,” she remarked while addressing the possibilities of Reeves’ return.
Despite the encouraging updates regarding John Wick 5, the project has yet to receive an official release date. While fans wait for more updates on the sequel, they can feast their eyes on From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which hits theaters on June 6, 2025.
