The Accountant 2

The Accountant 3 Update Given by Director for Ben Affleck Franchise

The Accountant 2 has yet to release in theaters, but director Gavin O’Connor already has his eyes set on a trilogy.

What do we know about The Accountant 3?

Speaking to Collider at SXSW, where the film had its premiere, O’Connor was asked about a third film, and confirmed that one is in the works, as he and screenwriter Bill Dubuque are mapping out a trilogy.

“There’s always been three,” said O’Connor. “Since post-production, since I started editing the first one. I didn’t know Bill [Dubuque]. We met on the first movie. I got the script from Lynette Howell Taylor, and then from the script that I initially got, I started working with Bill. I think any filmmaker’s going to do it. You get a script, you respond to it. How does it affect you personally? But then you keep climbing inside of it. It becomes your own aesthetic and sensibility.”

This echoes comments from O’Connor from earlier this month, when he told Vanity Fair that he envisioned the series becoming a trilogy, and had already brought up the idea to Ben Affleck.

Along with Affleck, The Accountant 2 will see Jon Bernthal, J. K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprise their respective roles as Brax, Ray King, and Marybeth Medina. Anna Kendrick, who played Dana Cummings in the first movie, is not returning for the sequel.

“Christian Wolff is brought out of hiding by Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina after someone close to them is killed by unknown assassins,” the synopsis for The Accoutant 2 reads. “To solve the murder, Wolff must recruit the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax.”

The Accountant 2 will be released in United States theaters on April 25, 2025, by Amazon MGM Studios through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
