James Gunn Celebrates DCU’s Mister Terrific Actor in New Superman Photo

James Gunn has shared a new look at Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific in the DCU Superman movie.

Superman will be released in United States theaters this coming July. The first feature film set within Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, the film will see David Corenswet play the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan portrays Lois Lane.

A number of popular superhero characters will also make their DCU debut in Superman, including Gathegi’s Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan’s Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría’s Angela Spica/The Engineer, and possibly more.

On Instagram, Gunn shared a new Superman set photo that sees him talking to Gathegi and Brosnahan. He wrote, “Happy Birthday to my great friend and great actor [Edi Gathegi], who you can see in all his technological glory in Superman in July!”

“Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures,” a description of the movie reads. “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”

Written and directed by Gunn, the movie also stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, and more.

Gunn and Safran serve as producers on the movie, while Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther serve as executive producers.

Superman will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
