The Accountant 2 Reviews Praise Ben Affleck & Jon Bernthal Action Movie

The Accountant 2 reviews are beginning to pour in for the Ben Affleck-led action movie after its premiere at SXSW, and early reactions praise both Affleck and Jon Bernthal.

What are The Accountant 2 reviews saying?

Over at Rotten Tomatoes, The Accountant 2 launched with a score of 86%, with 22 total reviews logged as of now. On Metacritic, the film is currently sitting with a score of 59, with only 10 reviews logged as of yet.

According to Variety’s Owen Glieberman, The Accountant franchise “had nowhere to go up but,” and that is “exactly what happened,” with Glieberman noting that the film is “one of the only thrillers I’ve seen you could characterize as a hangout movie.”

For The Hollywood Reporter, Lovia Gyarkye says that the both Affleck and Bernthal are “the real draw” of the movie, and that director Gavin O’Connor understands this. “He uses any opportunity to get the brothers talking, and follows each major development in the fictional case with a moment of brotherly bonding,” says Gyarkye, in a movie that fans will “find plenty to admire and root for.”

At Deadline, Glenn Garner calls the movie a “pleasant surprise,” praising the film’s use of familial dynamics. The Guardian’s Adrian Horton also said the film is “neither groundbreaking nor exceptional,” but does deliver with “enough juice for another at-home hit.”

The Accountant 2 is a sequel to 2016’s The Accountant. In addition to Affleck and Bernthal, the sequel also stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson, J.K. Simmons, Ray King, Danielle Pineda, and Allison Robertson. The script for the movie was written by Bill Dubuque. Affleck serves as a producer alongside Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams.

The Accountant 2 is set to release in theaters on April 25, 2025.
