Star Wars: Daisy Ridley on Rey Movie’s Filming & Kathleen Kennedy’s Involvement

As rumors circle Kathleen Kennedy’s position at Disney, Daisy Ridley has come out to confirm that the Lucasfilm president will, in fact, play a significant role in shaping the next Star Wars film. Reportedly titled New Jedi Order, the said movie would center around the adventures of Ridley’s Rey. However, with speculations running rampant regarding Kennedy’s potential exit from Lucasfilm, many have questioned if the veteran film producer will impact the forthcoming Rey movie. But if the actress’ latest comments are anything to go by, the Lucasfilm president is here to stay.

Daisy Ridley says Kathleen Kennedy is ‘very involved’ in next Star Wars film

In a recent discussion, The Marsh King’s Daughter star divulged that Kathleen Kennedy will be involved in the next Star Wars movie.

Daisy Ridley touched upon the topic while speaking with The Direct at the SXSW premiere of We Bury the Dead. During the conversation, the English actress denied all credibility of the theories about Kennedy’s tenure at Lucasfilm. Talking about the Disney executive’s part in the forthcoming New Jedi Order film, Ridley said, “I believe that she’s very involved. I think there was reporting that was not true. So yeah, very [involved].”

Additionally, Ridley provided a disappointing update regarding the filming of the next Star Wars film. Upon being asked about the postponed Rey project, she simply stated, “I don’t know.”

Daisy Ridley’s statements come after Puck News’ Matthew Belloni reported Kathleen Kennedy’s eventual exit from Lucasfilm after 2025. However, she soon countered his claims through an interview, stating, “I am not retiring. I will never retire from movies. I will die making movies. That is the first thing that’s important to say.”

That said, Kennedy did admit that she is in talks with Disney CEO Bob Iger and co-chairman Alan Bergman regarding an eventual accession plan. The E.T. producer also exclaimed that the trio aims to reveal her successor “months or a year down the road.”
