Robert Pattinson on The Batman 2 Delays: ‘I’m Going to be F—ing Old’

Even Robert Pattinson can poke fun at The Batman 2 delays.

What did Robert Pattinson say about The Batman 2’s delays?

Pattinson recently interviewed his Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine. Ackie asked Pattinson when he plans to play Batman again for the sequel. Pattinson joked that it better happen soon due to his age.

“I f—ing hope so,” Pattison said before laughing. “I started out as young Batman, and I’m going to be f—ing old Batman by the sequel.”

Pattinson was 35 when The Batman was released in 2022. If The Batman 2 stays with its October 2027 release date, Pattinson will be 41.

Pattinson first played Bruce Wayne in The Batman. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman follows the Caped Crusader during his second year as a vigilante. Batman faces off against The Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham City’s elite. Reeves’ superhero entry was a critical and commercial hit, grossing over $772 million against an estimated $200 million budget.

The Batman is part of the larger Batman Epic Crime Saga, a connected universe under the new DC Studios banner. A spin-off television show, The Penguin, premiered on HBO to critical acclaim. For his portrayal of Oz Cobb, Colin Farrell received a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, and a Critics’ Choice. Cristin Milioti also won a Critics’ Choice for her performance as Sofia Falcone.

The Batman is part of DC Elseworlds, a branch of the DC Universe that is not connected to the main timeline. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn previously said it is “very unlikely” Pattinson’s Batman will appear in the DCU.

The Batman 2 is scheduled to begin filming toward the end of 2025 for a theatrical release date of October 1, 2027.
