GKIDS has officially announced The Colors Within‘s Blu-ray and DVD release date, confirming when Naoko Yamada‘s 2024 movie will be out in physical form.
When is The Colors Within Blu-ray and DVD release date?
The Colors Within Blu-ray and DVD release date has been set for May 27, 2025, when the film will arrive in both a standard set and in a Limited Edition SteelBook from GKIDS.
Alongside the news of the film’s physical release, GKIDS also announced that The Colors Within will be available on digital platforms beginning on April 1, 2025, including on services like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Movies, Fandango At Home, Microsoft, and iNDEMAND.

The film is directed by Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice) from a screenplay written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden), with kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man) composing the score. The creative team includes animation director and character designer Takashi Kojima. It is a production by Science SARU (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off) and Story inc. (Your Name, Weathering With You, Suzume). It is produced by Genki Kawamura (Your Name).
“Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all,” reads the official synopsis. “Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?”
