Mad Max 6 Update: George Miller Has Script for New Sequel, Won’t Be His Next Movie

Director George Miller has provided an update about a potential Mad Max 6.

Miller has worked on all five of the Mad Max films thus far. He co-directed the franchise’s third entry, 1985’s Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, alongside George Oglivie, while he directed 1979’s Mad Max, 1981’s Mad Max 2, 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga by himself.

Miller openly talked about wanting to a Mad Max 6 movie around the time of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’s release; however, it became unclear whether those plans would come to fruition after Furiosa only made $173.8 million at the worldwide box office.

What did George Miller say about Mad Max 6?

Speaking with Vulture, Miller was asked if there were still plans to do more Mad Max following Furiosa’s release.

“We’ve got another script,” Miller answered. “But having been doing this long enough where I’m habituated to storytelling, I find myself with way too many stories — not only in my head, but in the form of screenplays or at least very detailed notes that are within reach of screenplays. I’m a professional daydreamer, really. This was seen as my big deficit as a kid: ‘George would do better at school if he didn’t daydream so much’ was on my report card.

“So, there’s lots of stories. Indeed, one of them is a Mad Max. It is not something I would do next, because there are two things I’m keen to do next. But if, for whatever reason, the planets align, you can never tell. Too often, you’re lining up to do a movie and then something happens. Some things fall into place and some don’t, so all I can say is we’ll see.”

Mad Max 6 has not been officially confirmed at this time. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is currently streaming on Netflix and Max.
