Snow White Remake’s Box Office Projections Are Much Lower Than The Little Mermaid

The upcoming Snow White live-action remake’s box office projections are in, with many experts estimating that the film will debut to to a smaller launch than Disney’s previous live-action entry.

What are the Snow White remake’s box office projections?

According to early tracking estimations (via The Hollywood Reporter), the Snow White remake’s box office projections see the film tracking to open at $53 million in North America, with a broader number seeing the film land anywhere between $48-$58 million.

The number isn’t bad as far as standard box office returns are, but many are likely to see it as on the low side for a project as big as Snow White. The number is also lower than the last Disney remake of a classic animated film, 2023’s The Little Mermaid. That film opened to $95 million at its launch, although it’s important to note the film did premiere during Memorial Day weekend, likely leading to a higher turnout.

Snow White will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.

Alongside Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Snow White also stars Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Martin Klebba as Grumpy. Set to be directed and produced by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, the project is expected to expand the story and music from the original. La La Land and The Greatest Showman duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are also attached to write new songs for the adaptation.

“Disney’s Snow White is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy,” reads the synopsis.

This project is part of Disney’s growing list of upcoming live-action projects, including Moana, Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Bambi.
