Yahya Abdul-Mateen-Led Wonder Man Is a ‘Beautiful Show,’ Says Marvel TV Head

Though it will be a while before Yahya Abdul-Mateen II-led Wonder Man debuts on Disney+, the MCU miniseries is already garnering positive reviews. Moreover, Marvel Studios’ TV Head Brad Winderbaum claimed that the upcoming series was “the best show no one’s ever seen” in a new interview.

Brad Winderbaum loves Marvel’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen-led Wonder Man series

The X-Men ’97 executive producer recently and offered confirmation that Wonder Man would feature eight episodes.

Brad Winderbaum spoke to Collider and elaborated, “It’s a very new flavor for Marvel. It’s straight from the minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Honestly, it is one of my favorite things ever. I think it’s the best show no one’s ever seen, and I’m very excited to see the audience reaction to it. I think it’s a love letter to what we do as filmmakers.”

According to Winderbaum, Wonder Man is “a love letter to acting as a profession, and “a very sincere, beautiful show.” The Marvel series was developed with Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest serving as creators. Cretton previously helmed the 2021 MCU feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Meanwhile, Guest has worked as a writer on shows like 30 Rock, Community, Suburgatory, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

In the same interview, Brad Winderbaum stated the runtime of the episodes would be differ. “There’s a little bit of some streaming leeway in the episode runtimes, so I think our shortest episode is 20-something, and our longest is, like, 40-something,” he said.

Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Wonder Man is based on the namesake Marvel Comics character created by writer Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. In June 2022, it was revealed to be one of the projects that Cretton had been working on for Marvel. At the time, Wonder Man was in early development. Production began in April 2023 in Los Angeles, California, going on for about a year before wrapping in April 2024.

Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ in December 2025.
