Chris Pratt Teases Star-Lord’s Return When Asked About Avengers Movies

Chris Pratt is teasing Star-Lord’s MCU return, which could happen in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Pratt played Star-Lord/Peter Quill in a number of Marvel Studios projects, including the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Joe and Anthony Russo’s two Avengers movies, and 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Russos are now working on two new Avengers movies, 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.

Pratt, who stars in the Russo Brothers’ new Netflix movie, The Electric State, was asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live if, given his relationship with Joe and Anthony, it’s safe to assume that he’ll be reprising his Marvel role once again for at least one of the upcoming Avengers flicks.

What did Chris Pratt say about Star-Lord’s MCU return?

“For people who know the Marvel world, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the last time you saw Star-Lord in there,” Pratt answered. “There was a promise that Star-Lord would return. All I can say is we will make good on that promise.”

Avengers: Doomsday arrives on May 1, 2026. Plot details remain under wraps at this time, though it is known that Robert Downey Jr. will play Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in the film. Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and the main cast of the Fantastic Four — Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — are also expected to appear, among others. Avengers: Secret Wars then arrives on May 7, 2027.

The Electric State, meanwhile, arrives on Netflix on March 14, 2024. In addition to Pratt, that movie also stars Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito, and more.

Deadline also asked Pratt at the world premiere of The Electric State if Star-Lord would return for a potential cameo in one of the upcoming Avengers movies; however, Pratt only said he “know[s]” fans would be thrilled to see him in there.
