Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Theatrical Rerelease Date Set for 20th Anniversary

Lucasfilm has officially announced the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith theatrical rerelease dates for the upcoming limited screenings of the epic space opera. The 2005 movie served as the final installment to George Lucas’ prequel Star Wars trilogy. In addition, the studio has also shared a new poster for the rerelease event, which was created by graphic artist Matt Ferguson.

“The film takes place years after the onset of the Clone Wars, when the noble Jedi Knights lead a massive clone army into a galaxy-wide battle against the Separatists,” reads the official synopsis. “When the sinister Sith unveil a thousand-year-old plot to rule the galaxy, the Republic crumbles and from its ashes rises the evil Galactic Empire. Jedi Hero Anakin Skywalker is seduced by the dark side of the Force to become the Emperor’s new apprentice – Darth Vader. The Jedi are decimated, as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Master Yoda are forced into hiding.”

When is the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith theatrical rerelease date?

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith will be heading back to theaters for one week only in U.S. theaters and select international territories, starting on April 25. In addition, during its limited run, the film will also be shown in 4DX for the first time.

Revenge of the Sith was written and directed by George Lucas. The ensemble cast included Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Frank Oz as Yoda, Jimmy Smits, Peter Mayhew, Ahmed Best, Oliver Ford Davies, Temuera Morrison, Anthony Daniels, Silas Carson, Kenny Baker with Samuel L. Jackson as Mace Windu and Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. Since its theatrical debut in 2005, it has received a Certified Fresh rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated installment of the prequel trilogy.
