Andrew Garfield and Jude Law are reportedly in talks to star in an upcoming limited series from Apple all about the iconic Las Vegas duo of Siegfried and Roy.
What do we know about the Siegfried & Roy TV show?
According to a new report from The InSneider’s Jeff Sneider, the pair of Oscar-nominated actors are the ones tapped for the roles, but it’s unclear as of now who is playing who. The series has been in development since 2022, and comes from Only Murders in the Building co-creator John Hoffman. Imagine Television is also behind the series.
Sneider’s report mentions that Hoffman will serve as both a writer and executive producer on the series, which is said to be based on the Apple original podcast Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy, from At Will Media. Should the series continue, it would be yet another podcast-turned-television-show for Apple, after they developed the Wondery podcast The Shrink Next Door into a series starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd.
Siegfried & Roy are the iconic duo of Siegfried Fishbacher and Roy Horn, both of whom were German-American magicians and entertainers. The pair were best known for their headlining performances in Las Vegas, which often incorporated white lions and white tigers in their acts. The pair performed from the 1960s all the way through 2003, when Horn was infamously critically injured by a tiger during one of their performances.
In 2020, Horn died from complications due to COVID-19 at the age of 75. In 2021, Fishbacher died at the age of 81 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
