The Thursday box office numbers for Captain America: Brave New World are looking strong.
Captain America 4, also known as Captain America: Brave New World, is now playing in United States theaters. The Marvel Studios movie sees Anthony Mackie reprise his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America, while Harrison Ford stars as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk.
Per Deadline, Captain America: Brave New World made approximately $12 million at the box office on Thursday.
That’s above Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Thursday night opening, as that made $10.2 million before it then went on to open to $95 million in 2014. It is, however, lower than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which opened on Presidents’ Day weekend in 2023. That movie made $17.5 million on Thursday before it made $120.3 million over the four-day weekend.
How much is Captain America: Brave New World expected to make during its opening weekend?
Captain America 4 is now eying an $80 million three-day opening and a $94 million four-day opening. Captain America: The First Avenger made $4 million in midnight showings, in comparison, and $65.1 million over its three-day weekend in 2011, while Captain America: Civil War made $25 million on Thursday, leading to a $179.1 million opening.
“Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America,” the official synopsis for the MCU movie reads. After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.”
The cast of the film also includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and more.
Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World is now playing in theaters nationwide.
