The Accountant 3: Director Has Talked to Ben Affleck About Potential Third Movie

Gavin O’Connor has talked to Ben Affleck about a potential The Accountant 3.

Affleck played Christian Wolff in 2016’s The Accountant, which was directed by O’Connor. Both O’Connor and Affleck returned for The Accountant 2, which will premiere at South by Southwest in March 2025 before it hits theaters nationwide the following month.

While there hasn’t been any official confirmation at this time about The Accountant 3, O’Connor already has some ideas.

What did Gavin O’Connor say about The Accountant 3?

Speaking with Vanity Fair, O’Connor said he always wanted The Accountant to become a trilogy.

“I have a lot of thoughts about what to do with the third. I’ve been thinking about it for a lot of years,” he commented.

While O’Connor has talked to Affleck about where the story could go next, Affleck says that he’s strictly focused on The Accountant 2’s release at this time.

“I’m keenly aware of the fact that you kind of have to earn another movie,” Affleck explained. “The worst pitfall is to store a bunch of your good ideas for the next installment. If you don’t create an interest demand the first time out there, you’re just going to be playing that to an empty house.”

Along with Affleck, The Accountant 2 will see Jon Bernthal, J. K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprise their respective roles as Brax, Ray King, and Marybeth Medina. Anna Kendrick, who played Dana Cummings in the first movie, is not returning for the sequel.

“Christian Wolff is brought out of hiding by Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina after someone close to them is killed by unknown assassins,” the synopsis for The Accoutant 2 reads. “To solve the murder, Wolff must recruit the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax.”

The Accountant 2 will be released in United States theaters on April 25, 2025, by Amazon MGM Studios through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
