Warner Bros. has released the first Mortal Kombat 2 poster and official logo for New Line Cinema’s forthcoming action fantasy sequel, providing fans with a first look at The Boys star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 24, 2025. It will be debuting in the same month as other high-profile movies like the Michael Jackson biopic, Tron: Ares, and The Black Phone 2.
Who is involved in Mortal Kombat 2?
Based on the hit video game series, the sequel is directed by Australian filmmaker Simon McQuoid from a screenplay written by Moon Knight head writer Jeremy Slater. Further details about the next installment’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. Just like the first installment, the film has already been granted an R-rating for “strong bloody violence and gore, and language.” It is produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, and E. Bennet Walsh.
Mortal Kombat 2 will feature the return of Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Joining them are several new characters in the form of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as emperor Shao Kahn, Damon Herriman as Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, Desmond Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, and Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel.
