The Mongoose, a new action movie starring Liam Neeson, has added Marisa Tomei to the cast.
The Mongoose comes from director Mark Vanselow, who has been Neeson’s stunt double in a number of different movies.
Per Deadline, Tomei (Spider-Man: No Way Home) has joined the cast, as has Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) and Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four).
What else do we know about The Mongoose?
In The Mongoose (which Deadline referred to simply as Mongoose in May 2024, leaving it slightly unclear if the “The” is part of the title), Neeson stars as Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a war hero who is “accused of a crime he didn’t commit and, with nothing to lose, leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase.”
Tomei will play Fang’s ex-wife, while Rhames plays Tanker, Fang’s “loyal right hand who was the second-in-command of Fang’s Special Forces squad when they were captured in Afghanistan. Chilis will play a character named Pope, who is the head of the Texas Highway Patrol and is convinced Fang is guilty.
The script comes from Thompson Evans. Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso serve as producers, while Jonathan Dana, Rich Freeman, Steven Shapiro, Liz Whitney, Ken Whitney, Lisa Wilson, and Craig Chapman serve as executive producers.
The film is currently shooting in Victoria, Australia. It is financed by Code Entertainment and Jupiter Peak Productions.
“Code Entertainment proudly welcomes these outstanding actors to Mongoose,” Corley and Rosenblatt said in a statement. “Their enormous talents, alongside Liam Neeson’s, promise to enrich our film with fresh excitement. We are thrilled to embark on this journey together, confident in the unique inspiration each will contribute.”
Neeson’s most recent film was 2024’s Absolution, which was directed by Hans Petter Moland. He’ll soon be seen leading the new Naked Gun film, co-starring Pamela Anderson, which arrives this coming August from Paramount Pictures.
A release date for The Mongoose has not yet been set.
